Race Day

2021 Preliminary Race day information.


Registration and race start:


Please ensure you already have your SAS number registered and mounted on your bike when arriving at the Race Start.


Registration and COVID screening will open at 4 am and is a simple process that will take less than 2 minutes to complete.


There is no collection of goody bags at the start. You will receive your virtual goody bag by email, race medal and t-shirt at Dunkeld Estate.

Bag drop

We encourage all riders to have their Drop Bags ready and packed the night before. Hand in your Drop Bag directly after registration and screening. Each rider will receive an armband with your Drop Bag number. Please do not remove this armband as we will use this to tick off the meals you receive at the halfway and finish points.


VIP Toilets will be available, and as per all Advendurance events, iCoffee will have your favourite brew ready!


Riders DO NOT have to start the race with lights mounted as was the case in previous years. However, lights must be mounted and tested when leaving the halfway point at 133km at De Villa Resort. This is compulsory!


Batch Load opens at 6:00, Race Briefing at 6:10 and Race Start at 6:15.


All riders will start together and will be escorted along the 6 km neutral zone through Cullinan. The race will officially start at the end of the neutral zone when riders turn left onto the first dirt road.

Checkpoints & Water points

Water & Checkpoints

There will be 7 water points and checkpoints along the route. Note: Not all water points/checkpoints are handover points.

Solo Riders

Compulsory checkpoints at water points 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7.

Team of 2 Relay

The handover point will be at the halfway mark at water point 3. Compulsory checkpoints at water points 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7.

Team of 4 Relay

Handover points will be at water points 1, 2, 3, 5 & 6. Compulsory checkpoints at water points 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7

Race Rules

Adhering to the race rules is extremely important to ensure everyone’s safety and to make the event experience a pleasant one for all involved. The list of rules is quite comprehensive. Please read through them. No exceptions will be made.

Bike transport options and offers will be made available and communicated closer to the event. Please keep popping in at our social media channels for more information.


*Please note: Riders who needed to be evacuated from the route before the halfway point will be taken to the De Villa Resort. Riders who needed to be evacuated from the route between De Villa Resort and Dunkeld Estate will be taken to Dunkeld Estate.

Transport of riders and bikes from these two venues will be for the rider’s account, and it will remain their responsibility to arrange such transport.

Your Done

The finish venue will be at Dunkeld Country & Equestrian Estate, Dullstroom, where a warm pasta meal will be waiting for you. The finish will NOT be at Tonteldoos. Once you cross the finish line, you will receive your well-deserved race medal and a finisher’s t-shirt.

Remember to collect your Drop Bag!

Supporters & Festivities

You could have a swim, take a shower, relax at the venue chill zone, or have a pasta meal at the Dunkeld Restaurant, which is included in your race entry. Riders and supporters may make use of the Dunkeld cash bar.

Your supporters may join you in the celebration at Dunkeld Estate where they can make use of the facilities at their own cost. Supporters may order meals from the restaurant at their own cost. There will be parking marked for support vehicles.
